Student C listens but does not look at A and B, gives feedback. Think positive Students take a scrap of paper and write down what is distracting them at the moment. After that they scrunch up the piece of paper, teacher takes the waste paper round so that they can throw it to get rid of the cause of their distraction But not at the same time Students do what the teacher tells them to do but the catch is that no two people do it at the same time. GETTING READY activities to get the students in a state of readiness and alertness for the lesson Mind games Students do an activity that focuses the mind, e.g. the teacher asks them to work in pairs and take it in turns to say the days of the week (or months of the year) forwards, then backwards. Countdown Students work in pairs, student A counts from 1 to 60, student B counts from 60 to 1. They must do the counting slowly and start and finish at the same time. Cell phone break Before the lesson starts, the teacher gives students two minutes to check their phones, answer the text messages.
