‘What are the consequences of a revolution?’ History The Industrial Revolution - why was it so important to Britain? What was the significance of cotton spinning moving from being a hand craft, to being mechanised? Why did the steam engine have such an enormous impact? Why were coal and iron so important for the Industrial Revolution? What impact did canals have on trade and transport in Britain? What was the effect of the first train lines to be built in Britain? PSHE: Children’s and adults’ rights and responsibilities What roles do we have in the community? What are we responsible for in our community? How do laws protect our rights? What is a charity? Why do charities exist? What is bullying? How do we show kindness? Geography : The United Kingdom Where in the World is the United Kingdom? What are the key physical and human features of the UK? How do counties differ in the different countries of the UK and how has the appearance of the farming landscape changed over time? How and why did towns and cities grow during the Industrial Revolution? How have contrasting cities changed over time? What are the key aspects of being British and what are the benefits of living within a multi-cultural society? Creative Arts Drawing, painting and print-making inspired by the work of British artists and designers including William Morris and L.S. Lowry.
