Lacey Act of 1900 Drafted in: May 25th, 1900 Amendment Years: 1984,1988,2008,2009 & 2010

Purpose/Description of the Lacey Act The purposes of this Act are to help in the restoration of game/wild birds in parts of the United States where they have become scarce or extinct. Also, to regulate the introduction of American/foreign birds or animals in areas where they have not previously existed. The duties and powers associated with this Act include the preservation, distribution, introduction and restoration of game/other wild birds. 

Who is responsible for the enforcement of this act? The Department of the Interior is responsible to oversee all enforcements and disciplinary actions related to this Act. The Act requires the Secretary of the Interior to collect and publish information regarding the propagation, uses and preservation of game and other wild birds and adopt rules and regulations to carry out the purposes of the Act.
