Parents’ Committee A vital part of the 4-H club leadership team By Diane Mack, NE Area 4-H Specialist

Purpose of Parents’ Committee Ensures that the club has the necessary leadership to provide positive learning experiences Identify and recruit volunteer leaders

Role of Parents’ Committee Members Work as a team – function like a school board or board of directors Assist the club by giving advice Making recommendations Providing support to club leader

Support club by: Promoting membership expansion Promoting 4-H to the public Assist with problem-solving and decision making within the club Providing orientation and training to new project leaders Providing orientation to new 4-H families

Organizing the Parents’ Committee Consist of three to five adults Organized each spring Can be elected, selected or appointed Staggered terms Senior member becomes chair
