Five Things That Crucified Christ Acts 7:51-53

Five Things That Crucified Christ Acts 7:51-53 51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. 52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: 53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it. Five Things That Crucified Christ Introduction Peter Accused The Jews Crucifying Jesus By Wicked Hands Crucified the Lord and Christ Acts 2:22-23, 36 Killed the Prince of Life Thru Ignorance Acts 3:12-19 The Jews Said, “let him be crucified” Matthew 27:22-23; John 1:11 In This Lesson We Will Look At Five Things that Crucified Christ Acts 2:22-23 - Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: 23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Acts 3:12-19 - READ Acts 5:26-33 - READ Matt. 27:20-23 - But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus. 21 The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas. 22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified. 23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified. Jn. 1:11 - He came unto his own, and his own received him not. Five Things That Crucified Christ

A Vow That Was Easily Broken #1 A Vow That Was Easily Broken Peter’s denial foretold by Jesus – Matt. 26:31-35 “All ye shall be offended because of me” “I will never be offended…” “Likewise also said all the disciples” Peter’s denial recorded – Matthew 26:70-74 All the disciples forsook him – Matthew 26:56; Isaiah 53:6 Do we make promises to the Lord, we don’t keep? Do we compromise with the enemy? 2 John 9-11; Mark 8:38; 2 Timothy 2:19 Matt. 26:31-35 - Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad. 32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee. 33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. 34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. 35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciple. Matt. 26:70-74 - READ Matt. 26:56 - But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled. Isa. 53:6 - All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 2 Jn. 9-11 - Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. Mk. 8.38 - Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. 2 Tim. 2:19 - Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. Five Things That Crucified Christ

A Watch That Was Not Kept #2 A Watch That Was Not Kept Disciples were in the Garden – Mark 14:32-42 “Watch and pray…” – Mark 14:38 Critical time - “My soul is exceeding sorrowful even unto death…watch with me” - Matthew 26:38 Have we failed to “watch and pray”? Do we behave like men – 1 Corinthians 16:13 Be faithful & steadfast – 1 Corinthians 15:58 Give diligence – 2 Peter 1:5-10 Be sober, be watchful – 1 Peter 4:7; 5:8-9; 1 Thess. 5:6 Mk. 14:32-42 - READ Mk. 14:38 - Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak. 1 Cor. 16:13 - Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men (act manly-be brave), be strong. Cf. Rev 22:18 - But the fearful (Cowardly), and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. 1 Cor. 15:58 - Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 2 Pet. 1:5-10 - READ 1 Pet. 4:7 - But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. 1 Pet. 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. 1 Thess. 5:6 - Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. A Kiss Without Love - A Kiss of Death #3 A Kiss Without Love - A Kiss of Death Judas’ betrayal – Matthew 26:14-16, 24 He saw and was aware of the miracles of Jesus… Who calmed the sea – Matthew 8:27 Walked on the water – Matthew 14:25-27 Healed the sick and cast out demons – Mark 1:32-34 He compromised & sold out – “What are ye willing to give me?” - Matthew 26:15 He betrayed Jesus with a kiss – “Whomsoever I shall kiss…take him” - Matthew 26:48 A Hypocrite He saw the evidence - his faith failed. What about yours? Matthew 24:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:13-17; Matthew 12:30; John 6:60-69 Matt. 26:14-16 - Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, 15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. 16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him. 24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born. Matt. 8:27 - But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him! Matt. 14:25-27 - And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. Mk. 1:32-34 - And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. 33 And all the city was gathered together at the door. 34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. Matt. Matt. 26:48 - Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. Matt. 24:12-13 - And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved 2 Tim. 3:13-17 - But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. Matthew 12:30 - He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. Jn. 6:60-69 - READ Five Things That Crucified Christ

A Question That Desired No Answer! #4 A Question That Desired No Answer! Pilate – John 18:36-38 “What is truth?” - vs. 38 Truth Came By Jesus - Jn. 1:14, 17; 14:6; 17:17 Some Want the Truth & Many Turn From It Galatians knew it & did not obey it – Gal. 3:1; 4:16; 5:7 Paul didn’t turn away - Acts 9:6, 18; 22:16 “Lord, what will thou have me to do?” - Acts 9:6 The Consequences Of Not Obeying The Truth 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 Jn. 18:36-38 - Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. 37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. 38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all. Jn. 1:14 - And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. Jn. 1:17 - For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Jn. 14:6 - Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but (except) by me. Jn. 17:17 - Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. Gal. 3:1 - O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? Gal. 4:16 - Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? Gal. 5:7 - Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? Acts 9:6 - And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. 18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. Acts 22:16 - And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Five Things That Crucified Christ

Five Things That Crucified Christ #5 A Trial That Did Not Try Jewish Court – Matthew 26; Mark 14; Luke 22-23 This “trial” was not about seeking truth and justice Sought false witnesses against Jesus – Matthew 26:59-64 Pilate knew His innocence, yet released Him to be crucified Matthew 27:17-26 Many Refuse to Investigate Their Beliefs Not interested in truth - John 17:17 Luke 6:46; Matthew 7:21-23 They lie, misrepresent the truth & remain in ignorance! We Are Commanded to Try The Spirits - 1 John 4:1 1 Thessalonians 5:21; Matthew 24:4-5 Matt. 26:59-64 - READ Matt. 27:17-26 - READ Jn. 17:17 - Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. Lk. 6:46 - And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Matt. 7:21-23 - Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 1 Jn. 4:1 - Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 Thess. 5:21 - Prove all things; hold fast that which is good Matt. 24:4-5 - And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. Judas hung himself - Matt. 27:3-5 - Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. At the last came two false witnesses, Matt. 27:1 - When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: 1 Tim. 4:1-2 - Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Five Things That Crucified Christ

Jn. 8:34 - I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. Acts. 17:30-31 - And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: 31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
