Lessons for the Christian From the Book of Joshua (Part 2)

Lessons for the Christian - from the Book of Joshua We are considering some elements from the book of Joshua and seeing what type of lessons we can learn as Christians for today.

Lessons for the Christian - from the Book of Joshua The grace of God does not negate the necessity of obedience on the part of man. Sin often develops in stages. When we are unsure about a certain action – before we do it – we need to 1st seek the counsel from the Lord.

Joshua 14:6-14

Joshua 14:6-14 Verse 8, “…but I wholly followed the Lord my God.” Verse 9, “…you have wholly followed the Lord my God.” Verse 14, “…because he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel.”

Joshua 14:6-14 Verse 8, “…but I wholly followed the Lord my God.” Verse 9, “…you have wholly followed the Lord my God.” Verse 14, “…because he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel.”

Numbers 14:20-24 “But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.” - Num 14:24 (NKJV)

2 Peter 1:11 “… for so an entrance will be supplied to you…” 2 Timothy 4:8 “… there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness…” Philippians 4:9 “…the God of peace will be with you.”

Only those who wholly follow the Lord will be rewarded 2 Peter 1:11 “… for so an entrance will be supplied to you…” 2 Timothy 4:8 “… there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness…” Philippians 4:9 “…the God of peace will be with you.”

Joshua 1:1-8

Joshua 1:1-8 “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” - Josh 1:8 (NKJV)

We must meditate on God’s law and keep it carefully. 1 Timothy 4:13-16 “…give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine…” 2 Timothy 2:15 “…a worker…” 2 Timothy 3:14-17 “…you must continue…” 1 Peter 2:1-2 “…desire the pure milk…”

Joshua 3:14-17

Joshua 4:1-7

One memorial we observe today is the Lord’s Supper. We need to remember other blessings too, even if we do not have “a set memorial” to help us remember. “What shall I render to the Lord For all His benefits toward me?” - Psalms 116:12 (NKJV)

Remember what the Lord has done for us. One memorial we observe today is the Lord’s Supper. We need to remember other blessings too, even if we do not have “a set memorial” to help us remember. “What shall I render to the Lord For all His benefits toward me?” - Psalms 116:12 (NKJV)

Lessons for the Christian - from the Book of Joshua Only those who “wholly follow” God will be rewarded . Success comes to those who meditate on God’s law and follow it carefully. It is very important that we remember what God has done for us. When we are unsure about a certain action, before we do it, we need to 1st seek the counsel of the Lord. Sin often develops in stages.
