Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at Lone Hill! My name is Mrs. Hand. I’m looking forward to my first year at Lone Hill. Over the last 12 years, I have been teaching PE at Oak Mesa & Allen Ave. Classes I will be teaching this is year will be 6th & 7th grade PE.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION SYLLABUS PHILOSOPHY: I believe a physically educated child is more likely to become a healthy adult who is motivated to remain healthy. CURRICULUM: Physical Education is movement based curriculum which includes participation and improvement in the following areas:

FITNESS TESTING – 7TH GRADE MUSCULAR STRENGTH MUSCULAR ENDURANCE FLEXIBILITY AEROBIC CAPACITY STATE STANDARDS FITNESS TESTING – 7TH GRADE FITNESS LAB RUNNING DAYS ACTIVITY IN GAMES WARM UPS & COOL DOWNS

PHYSICAL SKILLS LOCOMOTIVE NON-LOCOMOTIVE MANIPULATIVE SKILL TESTS SKILL WORK SKILL TESTS LEAD UP GAMES

SOCIAL SKILLS HAVE FUN RESPECT, TRUST, COLLABORATION COMMUNICATION: SPEAKING LISTENING APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE & BEHAVIOR APPROPRIATE DRESS BE HERE, BE ON TIME, & BE READY HELP TO MOVE THE ACTIVITY FORWARD BE ON TASK WORK HARD, PLAY FAIR HAVE FUN

GAME KNOWLEDGE STRATEGIES RULES OF THE GAME APPLICATION OF STUDENTS’ FITNESS, PHYSICAL SKILLS, & SOCIAL SKILLLS BE AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT HELP SOLVE PROBLEMS KEEP THE GAME MOVING TEAMWORK & COOPERATION HELP TO MAKE GAMES FOR ALL

POLICIES GRADING POLICY: The student’s grades are based on their growth, ability, effort, and participation in these four areas of the curriculum. Some emphasis will change as students progress through the grade levels. ATTENDANCE: Parent or Doctor notes are required if a student is unable to participate in PE. The student should dress out and bring the note to class if they are physically able to. UNIFORM POLICY: Students are expected to dress out every day and lock up all belongings. Students are required to dress in their own proper physical education uniform. Every student’s name is marked on his or her uniform for identification purposes. Sweatpants & sweatshirts may be worn during cold weather. Tennis shoes (with laces tied on the top) are a required part of the uniform. No jackets are allowed. Loaner uniforms are available upon request.

CLASS EXPECTATIONS Students need to come to class with a good attitude and ready to play. Physical Education students are required to: Be on time & dress properly for PE. Perform warm-ups & exercises correctly Respect equipment & property Show good sportsmanship & play fairly Set goals for individual improvement Follow directions

LOCKER ROOM RULES STUDENTS ARE ASSIGNED THEIR OWN LOCKS & LOCKERS NO BAD LANGUAGE NO SHARING PE CLOTHES OR LOCKERS Make sure your lock is locked before leaving the locker room NO FOOD, OR DRINKS ALLOWED (WATER IS OK) NO STANDING ON THE BENCHES KEEP YOUR ACTIONS & VOICES UNDER CONTROL CELL PHONES ARE NOT TO BE USED AT ANY TIME IN THE LOCKER ROOM ENTER THE LOCKER IN AN ORDERLY MANNER A $6 FEE WILL BE ASSESSED TO REPLACE LOST LOCK LONE HILL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN BELONGINGS
