Northeastern Middle School Career Education in Middle School

Chapter 339- What Is It? Chapter 339 was developed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for all schools to have a Comprehensive K-12 Guidance Program. The initiative incorporates 3 Domains of programming: Academic, Personal/Social, and Career that all students receive and participate. Kris Hach

Chapter 339 Impact Students: Reaches every student to create a comprehensive plan to prepare him/her for postsecondary education and employment. Counselors: Gives school counselors a template to provide a comprehensive school counseling program and curriculum every year to all students. Staff: Provides a better understanding of the role of school counselors. Community: Provides a better understanding of the school counseling program at NESD. Provides better communication to help connect students with community resources and agencies.

NESD Advisory Council The Advisory Council is to serve as a link between the School Counseling Program and the various stakeholders including students, parents, educators, business/community members and post-secondary representatives. Serves in a leadership role to support the mission and goals of the School Counseling Program. Provides a communication link between the school counseling program and the five stakeholder groups. Acts as a resource and support for the school counseling program. Reviews data and provides feedback on the effectiveness of the school counseling program.

Chapter 339: Middle School Career Education All students will begin an Individualized Career Action Plan (CAP) in middle school that will help prepare them for further career exploration in high school. 7th Grade: CAP introduction in Social Studies and Intro to Literacy courses 8th Grade: Continuation of CAP research in ELA course
