2018 SHS Innovation Competition Team Name Organizationi

Innovation Theme: “Reinvent Value-Added Time” Do we truly know how much time is spent actually taking care of the patient? In today's healthcare industry we know that everybody is busy. We know physician offices are not accepting patients, so, they must be busy. We know EDs are busy, we know hospitals and clinicians are busy, but what are we busy on? Are our well-trained providers performing at the top of their license? We want to know how much time providers spend actually taking care of patients. Consider: Physicians Nurses Technicians and technologists Administrative personnel We are looking for the most revolutionary ideas/ways to accurately track time spent in direct patient care. We want to see what that looks like and how you would use that information to improve the proportion of time actually spent on care, leading to higher productivity.

Pitch Agenda Solution (3 minutes*) – Describe your solution and why it is superior to alternatives. Include a short list of features/benefits. Include your thought process of how you arrived at your solution. Market (2 minutes*) – Show how you understand your Market (size and composition), Customers (current and potential future), Competition (direct & indirect, current alternatives), and what is your Sales Strategy (plan to enter the market). Send your pitch presentation to eperezruberte@gmail.com by Wednesday February 14, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. ET. * Times are just suggestions, as long as the total time of the pitch is 5 minutes.

Scoring Criteria There are five total judging criteria which will be equally weighted in determining a winner: Innovation – the extent to which the proposed idea is novel, i.e., different from other existing technology. Includes the extent to which the team follows a thorough thought process through the innovation process. Market and Applicability– the extent to which the team convincingly demonstrates the idea solves the proposed challenge and that there is a profitable market for the proposed idea. Competitive Advantage – the extent to which the team demonstrates that its design has significant advantages over the most similar, existing technology, or, if no similar competitors exist, the extent to which the team demonstrates a sound plan to enter the market (market its product). Presentation Quality – the extent to which the audio and visual quality of the team's presentation contribute to a convincing pitch. Response to Questions – the team's ability to reply clearly, concisely, and convincingly to judges’ questions.

Pitch Session Only SIX (6) teams will be selected to pitch their innovations to the judging panel. Those selected will be notified by February 20. The pitch session will be: Thursday, February 22 – 4 p.m. Room: Buckhead Ballroom 1 Must be present for your pitch session (video pitches will not be accepted).
