I’ll change one trip per week M-POWER CAMPAIGN Doing good with M-Power We know that passion and the participation of University students and staff are integral to the successful implementation of initiatives for sustainability. With this in mind, Macquarie University’s M-Power sustainability program provides a fun and meaningful way for our community to focus on improving key lifestyle areas, such as waste, transport and volunteering. M-Power provides staff and students with practical education, tips, ideas and resources for creating life-long behaviour change, which in turn makes a positive difference and builds the culture of sustainability at Macquarie University. And you can transfer these skills and tips into your personal life as well for an all over win-win! So let’s get working on creating a movement of doing good!

Why get involved? It’s about doing good … for you … for others … and for the planet …to create a better future! At it’s heart sustainability is about doing good – for you, for others and for the planet. There’s something in there that everyone can connect with! Because when you think about it, who doesn’t want to create a better future. MACQUARIE SUSTAINABILITY

OFFICE I FACULTY I DEPARTMENT

I’ll change one trip per week YOU COULD WIN AN ELECTRIC FOLDING BIKE! This M-Power is all about how we move from place to place. For this sustainable transport challenge, change one trip per week and log your trips through Co-Hop (app or web browser) for your chance to win an electric folding bike*. Co-Hop is Connect Macquarie Park's new transport planning and ride-share matching tool that rewards you and your buddies as you commute. Free for Macquarie University staff and students, you can use the system to find alternative routes to campus and even match with bike buddies or find/start a carpool. It’s so simple to use! *Competition terms and conditions Terms and conditions:   Prize: One SMARTMOTION E20 FOLDING EBIKE valued at 2,095.00 for one selected winner. I’ll change one trip per week IDEAS Active transport Active transport Walk, ride or even skateboard to and from campus! Or even part of the way – try jumping off the bus a stop early and do some good for yourself by getting those steps up. If you live within a 5 km radius of Macquarie Park and North Ryde you can cut your commute time in half by riding your bike during peak-times. Considering cycling or taking public transport but don’t know the way? You can also you Co-Hop to match with bike riders and other commuters to help you map out the journey.   DID YOU KNOW? Macquarie University has Bike Hubs, bike racks, bike repair stations, showers, lockers and filtered drinking fountains to provide facilities for pedestrians and cyclists. Visit: mq.edu.au/about/contacts-and-maps/getting-to-macquarie/bicycle

I’ll change one trip per week IDEAS Public transport Public transport Take some time to read a book, watch your fave TV show, chill and listen to music, catch up on study or learn a language whilst you give your car a break. Check out Co-Hop to plan your public transport route for the whole journey or even just part of the way.

I’ll change one trip per week IDEAS Carpool Carpool Get or offer a ride to campus and get to know someone from your local community. Co-Hop makes it simple to arrange safe, friendly carpooling and ride sharing to and from the Macquarie Park area. It helps you find people local to you who can easily fit into your travel times and the way you want to commute. You can even choose your Co-Hop buddy according to your preferences and profile. For example, you can edit your personal preferences (such as willing to offer a lift or looking for one, smoker or non-smoker).   DID YOU KNOW? Did you know that carpoolers can get access to priority parking spots on campus? Carpooling Parking Permits are available to carpoolers who drive to campus in a vehicle with two or more persons. The permit allows you to park in priority carpooling locations on campus. To find out more and apply: mq.edu.au/about/contacts-and-maps/getting-to-macquarie/car/car-pooling VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXSl3SjpxSo&feature=youtu.be

I’ll change one trip per week IDEAS Mixed mode Other options Mixed mode If any of the above are impractical for your whole trip, why not consider mixing up various modes of transport? For example, you could ride to a station and get the train, or vice versa. Or you could carpool with someone part of the way, then get the bus or walk and get those steps up. Check out Co-Hop to plan your mixed mode travel. Other options Commute outside of normal work hours, or consider mobility substitutes such as telecommunications, studying remotely, or delivery services.
