ITS Directive 2010 Objectives Framework for the Coordinated and Effective Deployment and Use of Intelligent Transport Systems Objectives Establish a framework for coordinated and effective deployment and use of ITS within MS and across borders Develop specifications necessary to ensure the compatibility, interoperability and continuity for the deployment and operational use of ITS for priority actions

Access and exchange of least STATIC Public and Private Travel and Traffic Data for Travel PLANNING across all modes WHAT

Static Dataset Comprehensive TEN-T incl. Urban Nodes Other parts of the network Timetables, access nodes, accessibility PRM, network topology etc. 2019 2023 Bike-sharing & car-sharing stations, vehicle facilities, basic common standard fares, how and where to buy tickets etc. 2020 Detailed cycling network attributes, estimated travel times etc. 2021 Dynamic data – if MS choose to include dynamic data in the NAP, they are encouraged to follow the above timeframe

via National Access Points (NAP) in phased implementation - MS to determine shape/form of NAP HOW (1) WHAT: access and exchange of least STATIC Public and Private Travel and Traffic Data for Travel PLANNING across all modes

Standardised Travel and Traffic Data in NAP – harmonised set across different modes. Use of translators possible HOW (2) HOW (1): via National Access Points (NAP) in phased implementation - MS to determine shape/form of NAP WHAT: Access and exchange of least STATIC Public and Private Travel and Traffic Data for Travel PLANNING across all modes

Use via licence agreements, harmonised set of terms and conditions, quality criteria HOW (3) HOW (2) Standardised Travel and Traffic Data in NAP – harmonised set across different modes. Use of translators possible HOW (1): via National Access Points (NAP) in phased implementation - MS to determine shape/form of NAP WHAT: Access and exchange of least STATIC Public and Private Travel and Traffic Data for Travel PLANNING across all modes

Priority Action A is not just about DATA but also about SERVICES WHAT: Access and exchange of least STATIC Public and Private Travel and Traffic Data for Travel PLANNING across all modes HOW (1): via National Access Points (NAP) in phased implementation - MS to determine shape/form of NAP HOW (2) Standardised Travel and Traffic Data in NAP – harmonised set across different modes. Use of translators possible HOW (3) Use via licence agreements, harmonised set of terms and conditions, quality criteria Priority Action A is not just about DATA but also about SERVICES WHAT: Push for Distributed Journey Planning across EU via linking local, regional and national services where there is a demand HOW: Recommended use of European standardised interface, defined 'handover points' and contractual agreements

INSPIRE MMTIS The INSPIRE Directive addresses 34 spatial data themes needed for environmental applications, with key components specified through technical implementing rules. The datasets listed in Annex I of MMTIS include spatial datasets and as such several of the standards and technical specifications prescribed in MMTIS all cover the same spatial datasets.

EU JRC funded project In February 2018 an EU JRC funded project started in order to investigate this overlap and produce recommendations to Member States on how to address this issue within the National Access Points. The project is made up of a team of data standardisation experts representing all the different transport mode data standards required in National Access Points (INSPIRE, NeTEx/Transmodel, DATEX, TAP-TSI, IATA) and also TN-ITS.

Project tasks develop definitions of the static data categories of listed in Annex I of MMTIS which are relevant to the INSPIRE Directive (spatial information); conduct a mapping exercise between the different data standards/specifications and identify possible overlaps and propose recommendations of how to overcome such issues; defining and testing a methodology of managing such overlaps with a number of practical and relevant use cases; develop a joint final report including technical recommendations for Member States on the usage of standards for the different data categories in scope.

TN-ITS Public data for digital maps Objective: seamless spatial data exchange essential for the deployment of ITS applications (implementation of specs b of the ITS Directive) TN-ITS GO: - 4-year (2018-2021) CEF Programme Support Action - 15 Member States + HERE + TomTom + ETSC + Ertico Focuses currently on the exchange of updates of traffic regulations (e.g. speed limits, restrictions for vehicles, warning signs…) Standard being finalised (CN/TC 278/WG7)
