BEHAVIOURISM Behaviorism (also called the behaviorist approach) was the primary paradigm in psychology between 1920s to 1950: Psychology should be seen.
Behaviorism Behaviorists believe that psychology should focus on measureable and observable physical behaviors and how these behaviors can be manipulated.

Behavioural Psychology

What is Behavioural Psychology? The Belief that psychologists need observable experienced evidence obtained through experimentation to understand and change human behaviour. It can be applied to people with a wide variety of mental disorders and also groups such as work places.

Key Terms Unconditioned Stimulus Unconditioned Response Classical Conditioning Operant Conditioning Extinction

Ivan Pavlov Experiment

What did Ivan Pavlov Experiment? If a neutral stimulus is presented with an unconditioned stimulus (such as food, water, etc.) then the subject will begin to respond to the neutral similarly to the unconditioned stimulus after conditioning.

B.F Skinner (1904- 1990) Was only concerned with observable behaviours not the mental process behind them Studied how the use of rewards and punishment can influence behaviour (operant conditioning)

The Skinner Box

Impact of Behaviourism The techniques are used to treat anxiety, phobias, and panic disorders. Positive reinforcement techniques also used in education.
