*Instant Stars are number 3s! Round Robin Starting with the 2s and continuing clockwise, discuss the following two questions: 1. Why do we celebrate Veteran’s Day? 2. What is the Wounded Warrior Project? *Instant Stars are number 3s!

What is the Wounded Warrior Project? Mission: To honor and empower Wounded Warriors. Vision: To foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history. Core Values: Meet FILIS. Each of her five fingers stands for a WWP core value. (Fun, Integrity, Loyalty, Innovation, Service)

What is the Wounded Warrior Project? Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP)  serves veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound, co-incident to their military service on or after September 11, 2001 and their families. On that date, America watched in horror as approximately 3,000 people died including hundreds of firefighters and rescue workers. Many warriors note a sense of duty to volunteer for the military following these tragic events.

*Instant Stars are number 1s! Think-Pair-Share Starting with the Bs discuss the difference between a circle graph, histogram, and stem-and-leaf plot. *Instant Stars are number 1s!

Quick Data Displays Review Circle Graph: Shows data as parts of a whole. The percents add up to 100. Histogram: Similar to a bar graph, and is used to display numerical data that have been organized into equal intervals. Stem-and-Leaf Plot: Data is organized from least to greatest. Digits of the least place value are usually the leaves, and the next place value digits are the stems.

WWP Surviving the Battlefield With advancements in battlefield medicine and body armor, an unprecedented percentage of service members are surviving severe wounds or injuries. For every US soldier killed in World Wars I and II, there were 1.7 soldiers wounded. In Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, for every US soldier killed, seven are wounded. TBI- Traumatic Brain Injury What is the best way to display this data?

WWP Surviving the Battlefield Make a Circle Graph! What can you conclude from this data display? TBI- Traumatic Brain Injury

What can we conclude about the data? TBI- Traumatic Brain Injury

WWP Serves Warriors Mentally How can you display this data to show the overall satisfaction of the warriors from year to year? TBI- Traumatic Brain Injury

WWP Serves Warriors Mentally Make a Histogram! What can you conclude from this data display? TBI- Traumatic Brain Injury

What can we conclude about the data? When would you use a stem-and-leaf plot to display your data? TBI- Traumatic Brain Injury

Exit Slip Choose and create an appropriate display for this data. What can you conclude? TBI- Traumatic Brain Injury
