Welcome Room 1 AM Kindergarten Room 2 Room 2 Ms. Silvera Tonight I will be sharing with you some information that will help to make this year a rewarding and successful one.

Rest and Nutrition Please see that your child gets 10-12 hours of sleep and a good breakfast. Studies show that children do better in school with the proper rest and nutrition. We have a before school breakfast program at 7:30 AM. Your child should arrive no later than 7:45 in order to eat and report to class on time.

Attendance Please be sure that your child arrives on time everyday. It is important that your child develop the habit of prompt and regular attendance. Late arrivals disrupt lessons already in progress. Late arrivals must check in at the office for a late pass. Kinder will be dismissed at 11:20 AM. Students that arrive before 7:50AM will need to report to a supervised area. No one will be in the yard to help your child if a problem should arise.

Absences & Early Dismissal If your child is absent please call the office at 395-4660 to explain the absence. If it is necessary for your child to be released early, sign him/ her out, at the office. They will give you a slip to bring to me. For security purposes I will need the names of those who might be picking up your child. They will be asked to provide proof, (i.e. driver’s license).

Dress Policy Your child needs to feel comfortable sitting on the floor, (girls-skorts or shorts under short skirts), playing outside, working with paint or clay, and moving to music. PLEASE!, PLEASE!, PLEASE!, be sure to LABEL any outer clothing, SWEATERS, JACKETS, SWEATSHIRTS, etc. The children’s clothes often look alike and are so hard to identify if they are not labeled. See the student- parent handbook concerning the dress policy. Periodically stop by the room to retrieve missing clothing, because at the end of the school year any unclaimed items will be gathered and donated to the clothes closet.

We Can Make a Difference Theme We Can Make a Difference This year’s theme will be focusing on how we contribute at home in our families and in school. Whether we help at home by setting the table or in school by cleaning up after an activity, everyone can make a difference. Be sure to pick a bagged cardboard doll to help decorate our wall.

Math homework is given daily, all other homework on Thursday which is due Tuesday of the following week. Your child will need a second folder to return completed homework.
