Vocabulary Should be kept in a separate Section of your notebook You do not have to use the template provided, but you do have to have all the information required.

Types of Vocabulary Unit These words will apply to the entire unit. They are usually specific to ELA and are concepts with which you are familiar . Content (Text Set) These words will come from specific texts and help us understand what we are reading. Daily These words will be random and help to expand your everyday word use and help prepare you for High School and SAT/ACT tests.

Expectations for Vocabulary notes Word The vocabulary word should be spelled correctly and written neatly in this column. Include the part of speech. Definition The definition needs To be paraphrased from the dictionary definition Be sure to define the word in the context which it is being used. Sentence/Image The word should be used in a sentence that conveys your understanding of the word. When applicable, try to create an image to help you remember the word’s meaning.

You are responsible for keeping up with your vocabulary list! Check with word walls, teacher website, and classmates to make sure you have the words you need.
