Presentation transcript:

PROJECT BASED LEARNING- Experiential approach WHY I USE PBL IN THE CLASSROOM It drives creativity, engagement and enthusiasm PBL drives active participation and not passive learning Students are able to understand and learn the concepts easily and effectively They are able to identify the issue or learning concept, clarify the objectives, analyze the alternatives, decide on strategies or solutions and implement the effective solution It provides room for scaffolding and peer assistance/motivation in teams

Why does it matter? In the 21st century workplace, success requires more than basic knowledge and skills. In PBL, students not only understand the content more deeply but also learn how to take responsibility & build confidence, solve problems, work collaboratively, communicate ideas and become creative innovators.

How I use the Different Stages and Sessions? Explore topics and create a list of topics that interest the students. Use Brainstorming - initiate the ideas, reach decision which yields high participation of the students and collective enthusiasm. Construct the problem that the students will solve. Introduce resources and that they can use Internet for web research People in the community to interview Newspaper articles Ensure that students have time to present their ideas and get feedback. Make sure there are working sessions for students to collaborate. Keep the learning circle open and active.

An example from my classroom Topic focused on Migration of birds Invitation for the visitors and the parents for the project Song of migration of birds by the students

Photos of the students with mask, models and puppet show
