The Word came from God

The Word from the Beginning In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. John 1:1-2

The Word from the Beginning 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. John 1:3

The Word & the Light In Him was life… John 1:4a

the light of men” The life was the light of men” John 1:4b

the light of men” 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12

Darkness failed 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:5

The True Light is the True Word

True light That was the true Light… John 1:9a

Who gives light …which gives light to every man coming into the world. John 1:9b

Who gives light Quakers use this verse to support their view that every human being is given an inner light of sufficient clarity & intensity so that no written message is needed.

Who gives light 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

Who gives light 30 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. John 20:30-31

Given the right 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: John 1:11-12

Lessons for us today

The Word today still saves 21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21

The Word today still saves 1 Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. Isaiah 59:1

The problem is not in the Word but in man. 19 Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul. Ezekiel 3:19

Conclusion 1. John 1 is clear, Christ, the Word, the Light, brought salvation to men & continues to bring salvation to men today. 2. Man must believe in Christ as the son of God and obey the Word before man can walk in the LIGHT.

Conclusion 3. Now it is up to man to act upon the right given to Him by God.
