How to Insert a Page Break of Varying Styles PAGE BREAKS How to Insert a Page Break of Varying Styles

Page Break A page break that is automatically inserted by Word is a SOFT page break. A page break you insert at a particular location is called a HARD page break. A hard page break does not adjust when text is added or removed. To create a hard page break, position the insertion point at the desired location, and press Ctrl + Enter. OR click on the Page Break button in the Page group on the Insert tab.

Benchmark Series Microsoft Word 2010 Level 1 Insert a Section Break To insert a section break: Click the Page Layout tab. Click the Breaks button in the Page Setup group. Click the desired section break type at the drop-down list. You will need to use the NEXT page section break for your assignments. You can change the layout and formatting of specific portions of a document by inserting section breaks. For example, you can insert section breaks and then change margins for the text between the section breaks. If you want to format specific text in a document into columns, insert a section break. Insert a section break in a document by clicking the Page Layout tab, clicking the Breaks button in the Page Setup group, and then clicking the desired option in the Section Breaks section of the drop-down list. You can insert a section break that begins a new page or a continuous section break that does not begin a new page. A continuous section break separates the document into sections but does not insert a page break. Click one of the other three options in the Section Breaks section of the Breaks drop-down list to insert a section break that begins a new page. A section break inserted in a document is not visible in Print Layout view. Click the Draft button and a section break displays in the document as a double row of dots with the words Section Break in the middle. Depending on the type of section break you insert, text follows Section Break. For example, if you insert a continuous section break, the words Section Break (Continuous) display in the middle of the row of dots. To delete a section break, change to Draft view, position the insertion point on the section break, and then press the Delete key. Breaks button Chapter 5 Applying Formatting and Inserting Objects
