Vocabulary: Crust – The brittle , rocky outer layer of the Earth. Mantle – Thick middle layer of the Earth. Lithosphere – Crust and upper part of mantle that is rigid. Asthenosphere – Lower level of the mantle that is partially melted. “Plasticized” Core – Dense metallic center of the Earth. Magnetosphere – The magnetic field that interacts with the Solar Wind protecting all life from cosmic rays.
