Why Study The Arts? Studies have shown that different study in The Arts strengthens academic performance – or example, Music assists with word decoding and phonological skills Dance improves visual-spatial skills as well as the physical benefits Drama education strengthens verbal skills and social skills Visual Arts allows students to explore and build upon their imagination, broadens their perspective and helps with critical thinking

Dance Drama Media Music Visual Arts Year 9 The Arts Dance Drama Media Music Visual Arts

The Arts Year 9 Electives Dance Dance acknowledges the relationship between practical and theoretical aspects of dance – the making and performing of movement and appreciation of its meaning.

The Arts Year 9 Electives Drama Drama is an exciting and invigorating subject packed with variety, excitement, focus and discipline.

The Arts Year 9 Electives Media In Year 9, students explore and recognise a range of media concepts, creating a variety of media products.

The Arts Year 9 Electives Music Year 9 Music is an opportunity for students to expand their practical skills and extend their understanding of musical styles and harmony.

The Arts Year 9 Electives Visual Arts The Year 9 subject exposes students to many different art forms including painting, ceramics, drawing, and sculpture.

Technologies Year 9 Electives Computing To familiarise students with computing concepts while using skills across a range of software. iSTEM – Technologies Integrates the use of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics principles in a a project-based learning environment. This elective has a focus on how design, systems and mechanisms work by effectively communicating to specific audiences by using visual media and 3D forms. Design and Technology Students will develop practical design skills while working with metal, wood, plastic and electronics. Home Economics Develops life skills for students and incorporates both a Foods and Textiles component.

Electives Remember: Please make reserve choices carefully as some electives may not have enough students for the electives to run. It is important to choose your electives carefully in both your first choices and your reserves. It may just be your second choice that you end up taking.
