SA Written Responses Feedback Explain why salt water can be described as homogeneous mixture. Because it’s a mixture and it’s the same. Salt water is made by adding a solid compound (salt) to a liquid compound (water) and stirring. The salt will ‘disappear’ in the water and become mixed. It can become homogenous if it’s mixed enough so that all the parts of the mix are almost identical to each other. It could even be made into a solution! The salt and water can be easily separated (from the mixture) by evaporating the water, leaving the salt, which is why it’s a mixture and not a new chemical (NOT combined, JUST mixed).
