The Principles of Sound

What is sound? Sound is vibrations. Science, Please!

Sound moves in every direction. What is sound? Sound moves in every direction.

To have sound, you must have a medium. What is sound? To have sound, you must have a medium. A medium is something through which sound travels. A medium can be a solid, liquid, or gas.

A property of sound is pitch. What is sound? A property of sound is pitch. Pitch is how high or low a sound is. A large and/or thick object produces a low pitch.

A property of sound is pitch. What is sound? A property of sound is pitch. Pitch is how high or low a sound is. A small and/or thin object produces a high pitch.

Intensity is how much energy is used to produce a sound. What is sound? Intensity is how much energy is used to produce a sound. A lot of energy – a loud sound. A small amount of energy – a soft sound.
