1.1 The Key Messages from the Workshop MLE does have advantages. Agreed that children should learn their mother tongue first, before picking up other languages. As studies have shown exposure to Mother Tongue in early childhood education help children to excel in Education. It’s important to have an appropriate duration to ensure children learn effectively so that they can succeed in education.

1.1 The Key Messages from the Workshop Community awareness and involvement are the keys to the success of MLE. MLE can be effectively achieved through different approaches. Teachers’ Training is the key to MLE success. Learning should be an enjoyable experience. Minority children should be allowed to learn and enjoy as well.

1.2 What are the most relevant? Training of teachers. Public awareness. More resources.

1.3 What would you like to change? The Malaysia Government is opened and supportive for Mother Tongue languages. Expand Teacher Training to the indigenous languages.

2. Who needs to hear these messages? Directors from various departments to present MLE at the Management Committee Meeting. NGOs, Universities, Teacher Training Institutes English Language Centres, Language Foundations Teacher’s Union

2. Stakeholders Regional – SEAMEO, SEAMEO RELC, UNICEF, UNESCO, World Bank National – Ministry of Education Provincial – State Education Departments, District Offices Local – Kadazandusun, Iban, Semai Communities

3. Communication Networking: sharing of ideas, more workshops. At the national level, we can conduct a seminar, workshop, etc. Good awareness programme for the Community.
