Structure draft Decision 3.4/1 (CAS-17) Gender Equality draft Recommendation 3.4/1 (CAS-17) Strengthening Earth Science National training/curricula

Background It recognizes that: Gender balance needs to be reached in WMO governance structures and activities and WMO endorsed Gender Action Plan, WMO education and training priorities promote building the research and operational capacity through stronger connections to WMO research Programmes, graduate level fellowships and personnel exchanges, The concepts of continuum and value chain in the Earth system sciences should be promoted in university education, New developments in the field of online communication tools should be utilized for the benefits of the broader education and capacity building.

Outcome Undertake relevant actions at the national level and in WMO structures in relation to the role of women in research and management; Consider gender in social aspects of early warning systems; Improved link between NMHSs, academic institutions and private sector to ensure best utilization of the newly trained personnel; Work closely with the International Council for Science and influence the national curricula on Earth system sciences in school systems to attract talents into the value chain of environmental prediction.

Thank you Merci
