UCSF Mobile Roadmap Presentations for Committee on Technology and Architecture February, 2012 Jeff R. Jorgenson Deputy Director, UCSF TeleHealth February 8, 2012

Moving from the web to a mobile-first world* Smart devices have fundamentally changed how people interact with the world. In 2011 according to IBM 18.3 % of all online sessions on retailers site on Christmas were initiated from a mobile device, compared to 8.4 percent in 2010. Google research: 70% of consumers use their smartphones while in a store. The beauty of thinking about “mobile first” is that you get to use the latest in browsers, forget about backward compatibility and at the same time are able to deploy the newest technologies and hacks. What it all boils down to is the fact that enterprises, businesses, retailers and publishers are indeed going mobile first. * http://gigaom.com/2012/01/06/its-becoming-a-mobile-first-world/
