Cabinet Departments 14 executive departments Headed by a cabinet officer (secretary) Also include, assistants, deputy secretaries and directors Two of the most important today were created in 1789 Department of State and Treasury

Independent Agencies There are over 100 independent agencies They directly serve the public These positions are appointed positions by the president NASA, EPA, CIA, USPS and FDIC

Regulatory Commissions There main duty is to make rules for business and industries that affect the publics interest Often under a great amount of pressure from groups they regulate and lobbyists Lately they have become limited Some feel that they have too much control over the economy
