Best Practices On the initiative of Co-operative Department. Vegetable growers cooperative societies are being tagged with schools for regular supply of fresh vegetables. Effective management of MDM through Bal Sansad (Child Cabinet) Multiple taps attached with the hand pump have been provided for hand washing in few schools. Dining halls have been constructed in 11 schools in Gumla district and 42 upgraded middle schools in Latehar district under Integrated Action Plan (IAP). ISSUES Low coverage - Only 55% enrolled children in Primary and 53% enrolled children in upper primary are covered. Delay release of funds from State to Block level – (JRM) Less utilization of food grains (61%) and cooking cost (62%). Delay in deliver of cooking cost and food grains in some of the visited schools by MI Delay in payment of cook cum helpers and poor utilization of honorarium to cook cum helpers (60%). – (JRM & MI) Very poor utilization of MME fund (only 21%) and poor inspection of schools (45% of the existing institutions).
