Workplace Planning-Why? Department of Planning & Development Workplace Planning-Why? Government sector workforce: Older than private sector Has fewer younger workers to replace retiring Boomers 46.3% are over age 45

Department of Planning & Development Demographics 2000-2015* Proportion of older workers (over 55) will increase 4% per year between 1998-2008 Workers aged 25-44 will decline by 3 million (from 51% to 44% of workforce) Workers aged 45+ will increase by 17 million (from 33% to 40%) *Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics
