Background Born in Oberweissbach, in Thuringia, in April, 1782 He was neglected in his youth His father was a pastor but only had little time to take care of him, his mother passed away when he was very young. Froebel's thoughts: "Children are like tiny flowers; they are varied and need care, but each is beautiful alone and glorious when seen in the community of peers."

“Father of Kindergarten” Friedrich coined the word kindergarten He started the first kindergarten in Germany in 1837
