Agenda: 1.Do Now: Finish the map activity from yesterday: Locate and mark the following civilizations on your map (in do now tray): Maya, Aztec, Anasazi, Hohokam, Cahokia, Hopewell. Cut and paste your map into your notes (under today’s Do Now section) 2.Investigate Primary Source Documents 3.Explain Homework: Pyramids in Latin America 4. Exit Ticket

Clues from the Evidence – not guesses or predictions, but hard facts Conclusions/Predictions about the society based on the clues. Structures are built high Maybe they are war based society? Defensive buildings? Buildings are well made – they’ve lasted long, made of tough material A society of really good builders Some structures seem to be temples? Religious culture? Priests have a lot of power Lush, green environment Agricultural society Permanent structures, big cities Huge structures, large city A large population Has a structure like the Roman Forum or the Coliseum – entertainment or PLACES OF GATHERING They have a communal aspect – maybe they gather for entertainment, trade, religious rituals Like a pyramid – maybe used for tombs? Lots of structures, costly, required a lot of resources A strong government – very organized and powerful Wealthy –? –-
