Life-sustaining processes and survival of species Cellular components visible under a microscope

What are the main cellular components visible under a microscope? Animal cells : The cellular membrane, the cytoplasm, the nucleus and the nuclear membrane Plant cells : Same as animal cells + cell wall, the vacuole and the chloroplasts.

Image visible under a microscope

The eyepiece Part you look through Magnifies image by 10x

The arm Connects base to body

The objective lenses Magnifies specimen Magnifying lens must be multiplied by eyepiece to get total magnification Ex: 10x (eye piece) X 4x (objective lens) = 40x magnification

The revolving nosepiece Holds the objective lenses Rotates so you can have different views of specimen

The Stage Holds the slide Allows light to pass through slide

The mechanical stage Mechanical system that allows you to move the slides horizontally along the stage.

Stage clips Hold slide in place

Light source Illuminates specimen

Diaphragm Adjust the lighting of the object being observed.

Coarse adjustment knob Bring image into focus

Fine adjustment knob Bring image into fine focus Used after the coarse-focus knob

Base The base supports the microscope
