What is Geothermal energy? Geothermal energy is energy that heat is derived below the earths surface which can be harnessed to generate clean. Renewable energy. Geothermal energy is generally considered environmentally friendly and does not cause significant amounts of pollution Geothermal energy is the heat from the shallow ground to hot water and hot rocks found Geothermal energy works by using the heat created by the earth and turing it int an energy source for people to us

Why geothermal energy? Geothermal energy is clean, inexpensive and easy to use and it can be used to heat or cool down buildings Geothermal heat can also be used to produce electricity in geothermal power plant Geothermal resources can be harnessed for power production without importing Geothermal power plants consume less water on average over the lifetime energy output than the most conventions generation technologies

Pros of Geothermal energy It does not cause significant amounts of pollution Geothermal energy is available everywhere, although only some resources are profitably exploitable Great for heating and cooling even small household can befits Does not involve any fuels, which means less cost fluctuations and stable electricity prices

Cons for geothermal energy More suitable for new home builds as retrofitting involves large scale excavation Electricity is still needed to operate heat pumps It may ran out of steam Large scale geothermal power plants are dangerous to the earths surface and location centric Geothermal heat pumps still needs a power source that can run it Geothermal pumps cost between $10,000- $ 20,000 that can pay off itself in another 5-10 year
