Aim: What is MANIFEST DESTINY and how did it impact the U.S.A.? Mrs. Sinacore, 2013

Manifest Destiny The idea that it is the God-given right of the United States to expand westward. We wanted to spread DEMOCRACY. It fueled WESTWARD EXPANSION in the 1800s. By 1853, the “contiguous United States” was acquired. We acquired land through: treaties that ended wars, purchases, annexation (took it), agreements (treaties)
