Future Tense

FUTURE TENSES: WILL / GOING TO I will travel to Japan next year → decision I am going to study German at school plan

Will + Base verb Question: Will + subject + base verb? Positive: Subject + will + base verb. Negative: Subject + will + not + verb

Future Tense: Will Form Affirmative: I will travel to Madrid in October Subject + will + base verb. Interrogative : Will you travel by bus? Will + Subject + base verb? Negative : I will not travel - won’t Subject + will + not + base verb.

Uses for “Will” 1- Instant decisions: Ok, I’ll see you on Friday. 2- Predictions based in what we think: It will rain in the evening. The boss won't be very happy. You’ll like him. 3- Promises and offers: Don’t worry, I’ll go and buy some food for you.

Review: “Will” for offering help What will you say? Write a short offer. The telephone is ringing. I’m in the shower. My car won’t start. I have to be at work right now, and the babysitter isn’t here. Your music is too loud. I can’t sleep. My books are so heavy. My back feels like it’s breaking! I don’t understand this grammar. ‘going to’ ‘will’ We use ‘will’ when decide to do something now --- at the time of speaking. We use ‘going to’ when we have a plan. We have decided to do something. Either will + verb or be going to + verb can be used for PREDICTIONS about the future
