Transdisciplinary Theme: Sharing the Planet Grade: 3 Dates of planner instruction: February – March 2018 KEY CONCEPTS: Perspective: What are the points of view? Connection How is it connected to other things? Responsibility: What is our responsibility? - Conservation - Resources - Environment An inquiry into the rights and responsibilities in the struggle to share finite resources with other people and with other living things. WHAT’S HAPPENING… Central Idea Lines of Inquiry Approaches to Learning Related concepts: -The resources available to humans. -How resources are shared/distributed globally -Impact of humans on resource distribution -People around the world share resources. -Self-Management Skills -Social Skills -Research Skills Please help your child understand this concept by explaining the things you believe and value. Then talk to them about the differences you would like to see in the world.

Success Criteria for This Unit What You Can Do With Your Child at Home Talk about the Learner Profile Attributes and Attitudes Students will strive to be: Important Dates: *No School: 2/19 President’s day 3/5 Teacher work day *3/9 End of 3rd quarter *3/15-16 Report Card distribution 3/26 – 30 Spring Break Remember: *Students can not be on school grounds before 7:55 before there is no supervision *Students are more successful when they are at school as much as possible, attendance is important!   - Reflective - Knowledgeable - Principled (Learner Profile attributes show who we are on the inside) - Appreciation Cooperation Integrity (Attitudes are what we show the world through our actions) Students should demonstrate: Success Criteria for This Unit Students will Ask: What are the resources humans use (rocks, minerals, water) Are resources evenly distributed and used around the world? How can humans impact resource distribution? How do we ensure access to resources on a global basis? How can we conserve resources? Why should we? What human actions deplete the earth’s resources? What resources are limited for children around the world? What human rights do children have around the world?
