International User Conference 21 July 2015 Master Scenario Events List (MSEL) JTLS Component Prototype. Greg Sullivan and John Ruck

ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation Motivation The need for an exercise management tool that is integrated with JTLS to support exercise planning, execution, and after action analysis. July 2015 ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation

ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation Background The concept was initial prototyped as part of the tablet project. A decision was made to continue development, integrating with existing JTLS user interfaces. July 2015 ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation

ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation Definitions Storyline: The list of events for an exercise Event: A logical grouping of incidents used to achieve a training objective. Incident: Component of an event that describes a particular situation or activity that requires intervention by the training audience or forces them to re-plan or re-prioritize their current activity. July 2015 ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation

ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation Definitions (cont) Injection: Brings an incident to the attention of the training audience. May be accomplished by JTLS order(s) or other mean such as e-mails. July 2015 ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation

ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation Architecture During planning, a JOBE like component. During execution, a module of the WHIP. During post-ex, a module of the TRIPP. Shows Storylines, Events, Incidents, and Injections in a hierarchical view July 2015 ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation

ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation Goals Reduce the workload during the execution of the exercise. Provide a tool that can be used during the MSEL conference to develop the story-line. July 2015 ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation

ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation Goals (cont) Provide the ability to pre-stage orders and other injections, leaving place holders for game objects like units and targets that need to be chosen at time of execution based on the current state of the exercise. July 2015 ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation

ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation Prototype Provide a platform to give concrete demonstrations of the concept. Provide a proof of concept for the ability to pre-stage orders, including the use of place holders for game objects. July 2015 ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation

ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation Status To date, this has been internally funded research and development. Implemented a prototype WHIP component July 2015 ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation
