The 6 Steps to Using a Condom PDCP 10

Choosing a condom: Step One Check the expiration date Check for air in the package Choose the right size, keep in mind that latex can stretch to accommodate penises of various sizes. Choosing a condom that is too small may cause it to break while choosing a condom that is too large may cause it to slip off during intercourse.

How to Choose the Size for you. Finding the best fit takes a little of measurement and some experimentation. Firstly, measure the length of your fully erect penis. From the base to the tip. Then, measure the girth of your penis. You can use a piece of string. Loop it once around the thickest part of the shaft of your erect penis. Measure it. Now you can compare your length and girth with the average. The average erection is around 5.1–5.9 inches in length and 4.85 inches in girth (from 4.7–5.1 in). If your measures are close to the average, a standard sized condom should be fine. If you’re significantly outside these ranges, consider a different size.

Step Two Push the condom to the side with your thumb. Rip down the side, usually there is a serrated edge to make it easier to tear. Never use teeth or scissors as it may damage the condom.

Hold the tip between your thumb and finger. Step Three Hold the tip between your thumb and finger. Make sure it looks like a sombrero hat, not a toque.

Place the condom on the top of the penis. Step Four Continue to hold the tip with one hand, making sure to squeeze the air out of the tip. Place the condom on the top of the penis. Use your other hand to roll condom down to the bottom of the shaft of the penis.

Step Five After ejaculation: Hold on to the condom at the base of the penis– it could slip off when you withdraw. Pull the condom away from the body to avoid the “splash effect”.

After carefully removing the condom Step Six After carefully removing the condom Tie it in a knot Put in garbage, not the toilet!

Class Activity Find a partner to practice putting a condom on the “woodies”. Take your time and be sure to follow all the steps!
