Protecting Chemical Spill Scenes Liaison Tip Protecting Chemical Spill Scenes Did you know that your communications folks can use COPLINK to set the scene perimeter to the needs of the scene management teams? Most of these scenes are handled by the chemical experts and controlled by the Cops, but knowing where to set the perimeter can be as easy as 1,2,3. Let’s do this!

A large chlorine truck has been involved in a collision with a train at the tracks at an intersection in the downtown area. Officers have responded. The Fire Chief has taken over control of the scene and the on-scene Sergeant has been asked to set a half -mile protected and evacuated area. Volunteers are responding to help with the evacuation. The Sergeant wants to set the area and man each street entrance.

From the Location Search, use the binoculars to find the street intersection. The gold star appears. Use the digging tool to go down closer to the neighborhood by clicking and opening refresh boxes The binoculars brings up the find address box. Enter the intersection and click find

Once you get down to neighborhood view, you use the tool to set the locations for entry control. Set perimeter control on each street accessing. Don’t forget to have an element that roams to remove people who already got in or are affected by the chemical. This usually involves assistance by those wearing protective clothing
