Types of Data

Primary vs. Secondary Data First hand data gathered by the researcher himself/herself Surveys, observations, experiments, personal interviews, etc. Secondary Data: Data collected by someone else earlier Websites, books, journal articles, etc.

Data: a collection of facts, such as numbers, words, measurements, observations or even just descriptions of things. Qualitative data (categorical) is descriptive information (it describes something) Quantitative data (numerical  is numerical information (numbers)

Two main types of qualitative data: NOMINAL ORDINAL Two main types of quantitative data: CATEGORICAL NUMERICAL
