Role Description for: Location: Main contact: Volunteer Pre-Adoption Visitor Merseyside Rehoming Centre Clare Turner Volunteer Coordinator Purpose of the role: Working to Dogs Trust’s standards and Health and Safety guidelines, to asses the suitability of prospective new adopter’s homes, and ensure all customers receive a first class level of service. Key tasks: Visit prospective adopters’ homes to asses the suitability of the home and environment to the particular dog. Write up findings at the property. Liaise with the adoption team on suitability of adoptees. Drive carefully and considerately ensuring best use of time by planning the quickest route. Be an ambassador for Dogs Trust. Be knowledgeable on the work of Dogs Trust and specifically the Merseyside Rehoming centre. Other administrative tasks as requested by Dogs Trust staff. Time commitment. Flexible days and times according to volunteer and customer availability. Volunteer Application Process; Please complete the volunteer application form stating that you are applying to be a volunteer home visitor. Return this form to Clare Turner at the centre and she will be in touch. We are especially looking for Home visitors in the West Lancashire region including Skelmersdale, the Wirral, North Liverpool, Northwich, Blackpool, North Wales and Anglesey. However, if you can cover any other area then please just get in touch. Skills/experience required: A full UK driving license with access to a car for use in this role. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent face to face communication skills with the ability to listen. Good IT skills. Confident and approachable manner. Common sense approach to problem solving and a diplomatic approach. Ability to work comfortably in a close knit team or alone. This role involves lone working. Conscientious with a can-do attitude. Ability to follow instructions. An interest in dogs and dog welfare. Previous experience in a similar role would be desirable. For this role volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
