In spring 2009 Casper College students completed the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE). Faculty at Casper College also completed the Community College Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (CCFSSE).

Faculty members were asked how often students interact with them, in and out of class. Faculty responses were compared to student responses. The following were the results:

Students and faculty were asked how often do you: Discuss ideas from your readings or classes with your instructor/students outside of class

Use e-mail to communicate with your instructor/students Students and faculty were asked how often do you: Use e-mail to communicate with your instructor/students

Students and faculty were asked how often do you: Receive/Provide prompt feedback (written or oral) from your instructor/students about your performance

Other points of interest from the CCSSE 2009 student data were: The following information compares CCSSE 2009 means with CCSSE 2007 means for Casper College, the other Wyoming schools (state), and the entire CCSSE cohort (national).

CC students were ABOVE the mean when asked how often they participate in community-based projects as part of a regular course.

CC students were BELOW the mean when asked how often they worked on a paper or project that required integrating ideas from various sources.

CC students were BELOW the mean when asked about how often they write papers or reports of any length.

CC students were BELOW the mean when asked about how often they made a class presentation

CC students were BELOW the mean when asked how often they asked questions in class or contributed to class discussions.

CC students were BELOW the mean when asked how often they use e-mail to communicate with an instructor.

CC students were BELOW the mean when asked how often they had serious conversations with students of a different race or ethnicity.
