3rd Grade Lesson 2 Spelling Words VCe Pattern

VCe Pattern When I see a part of a word that has a vowel, a consonant and then the letter e, I know the vowel will be long and say its name! For example: cake – I see a is a vowel, k is a consonant and then the letter e, so the a says its name.

mile To run one mile, you would need to run around this track 4 times.

price The price of something is how much money you have to pay to get it.

ripe The red tomatoes are ripe and ready to eat, the green tomatoes are not.

erase The teacher began to erase the problem from the board.

spoke I spoke with my mom on the phone to tell her I got to the bus on time. My dad helped me fix the spoke on my bike wheel.

broke I broke my parents’ pot and got in big trouble. If you have no money, you are broke.

invite When someone wants to invite you to their party, they might give you an invitation.

flame The hottest part of a fire is the flame, but the smoke is dangerous too.

rule A queen can rule the land. A rule tells you what you can or can’t do.
