Welcome! August 27th, 2018 Friday Do Now Get out your weekly Bell Ringer sheet and begin working on Friday’s assignment. Once the bell rings, you will have five minutes to find and label the examples of figurative language. Remember: Do Now's are INDEPENDENT and QUIET exercises. Thank you 

© Presto Plans Read the paragraph below and find examples of metaphor, simile, onomatopoeia, personification, oxymoron and/or alliteration. A tattered paper clung desperately to the telephone pole by two staples. The poster read, “Found Missing: Golden Retriever.” Josh looked closely at the photo as his mind attempted to retrieve the memory of where he saw this dog from the files in his brain. The memory was like a bolt of lightning. “Ah ha!” he roared when he remembered regularly seeing him on his route home at a neighbor’s house. There was a quick rip sound as he tore the number from the bottom of the page. Josh felt like a detective solving a mystery as he began inputting the number in his phone.

The Book Thief Turn to page 405. We’re going to read to page 415, and then you’ll read and annotate pages 416-419 on your own. As we read: Make sure you’re paying attention and annotating as we go! It will help you remember what’s happening.  As you read: Don’t forget to annotate! You will need at least one well-thought out, 2+ sentence annotation per page
