Meat Consumption Rising steadily as more nations become developed with increasing incomes (think of China) 56 Billion animals are raised and slaughtered for food each year ~50% of worlds meat comes from rangeland & enclosed pastures Other 50% is from concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) Grain requirements for a nation increase as they move to animal-based diets Countries forced to secure their grain sources or land sources as their demands rise
