The Vietnam War Explore the timeline found at http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-06- 20/timeline-of-vietnamese-immigration-to-australia/4080074 and answer the following questions: How many Vietnamese people were there in Australia before 1975? Why did the ‘wave’ of Vietnamese refugees begin in 1975? What and where was the first boat arrival from Vietnam? What was the Orderly Departure Program (ODP)? Explain the term ‘nationalisation’. By 1981, what percentage of Vietnamese arrivals had come by boat?

The Vietnam War continued Read pp. 51-53 of the ‘Immigration and Population History of Selected Countries of Birth’ document and summarise the main information. Using all of the information you have gathered so far on Vietnam and the Vietnam War, create a Prezi about Vietnamese immigration to Australia. Finally, complete ‘The Happiest Refugee’ research activity (found on Project Space).
