Appearance Koalas have a thick coat that keeps them warm in the cold. Koalas have white on their bellies and gray on their back. Koalas have fluffy ears and sharp claws to get a grip on the tree.

Habitat Koalas live in Australian rainforest. Koalas live in eucalyptus trees. Koalas sleep in trees so they can have their own area to sleep.

Babies Baby koalas are called a joey .When a baby koala is born, it is pink and climbs into its mother’s pouch. Baby koalas drink for about six months.

Movement A koala can jump and leap. Koalas sometimes jump off the tree and walk to go get water or go to another tree. Koalas can walk.

Food Koalas eat eucalyptus leaves most of the time. When you think they’re sleeping, they’re really awake. Koalas eat about five pounds of eucalyptus leaves a day. There different kinds of eucalyptus trees.

Other Interesting Facts When koalas are too big to fit in their mother’s pouch they ride on their back. The first kind of koala to be found was the New South Wales Koala. They are furry and their bellies look fat but it’s just because their fur is fluffy.
