A Campus-Based Shared IT Services Framework for the UC Opening Slide Current progress and discussion By Emily Deere, Kian Colestock, and Gabe Youtsey

Why are we here? Working group charged by the ITLC to draft a conceptual framework for campus-based shared IT services: high quality, consistent, sustainable, broad adoption Allow campuses to focus on the services that differentiate us rather than commodity IT services that do not Learn from Current Shared Services to find what works, and how we can support new services Validate Campus Led – System Backed model 11/24/2018

Objective #1: Address Barriers from the Past on creating Shared Services Centralized model selected versus ‘shared services’ model Professionalized delivery not uniform across all campuses Sustainable funding models and governance required for success Need ROI and metric data to demonstrate opportunities for shared services and elicit adoption from campuses 11/24/2018

Slide from Gartner 4

Objective #2: Build on current themes for Shared Services ITLC Pillars Pillar I — Formalize partnerships with UC Leadership groups to jointly establish principles for common or shared solutions and to develop and regularly maintain shared roadmaps of future direction Pillar II — Establish the enterprise architecture and technology infrastructure necessary to promote and support interoperability and sharing of IT solutions among and between campuses. 11/24/2018

Current Themes cont.
