The News and bias

Bias A Bias is prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person or group compared with another. Ex: Mr. Neanover has a bias against dOOk.

Classwork Assignment Bias in the Media Article I want you to write a blog post or newspaper article, using bias and unbiased journalism for the following choices: Battlefield 4 or Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Is WCHS better than WNTHS and WECHS….or nah? UNC v. dOOK Football or Cheerleading 2pac or Biggie Anything else needs to be approved by Mr. Neanover Unbiased articles use: Facts Reliable sources Good Reasoning Objective Logic. Biased articles use: Feelings Stories Deception Interpretations This should be ¾ of a page long and include a Title, a small picture, the author’s name, a great opener, and a great ending.

Example: Student Grades Biased Unbiased Students with Bad Grades are Teachers’ Worst Nightmares By Mr. Neanover It is a well-known fact that Teachers only like students with good grades. The same is true of students with bad grades. Teachers absolutely hate when students get bad grades and begin to hate the students who do not perform well. The second that a student performs poorly on a test, a teacher has decided that they will hate them forever. This is because if you do not have good grades, you must be a terrible person. One teacher told me that she loved all of her honors class because grades were what mattered. Grades Don’t Make a Student By Mr. Neanover While Grades may be important for graduating and going to college, teachers take into consideration a number of factors. Teachers do enjoy when their students do well, however, that isn’t what drives them to be here. Each teacher is here for a reason, and while the reason for some maybe to challenge students academically, others are hear to connect with students and see them grow as people. When asked what type of student Mr. Neanover enjoys most he said “I enjoy students who try their hardest, know what they want and are good people. At the end of the day I forget a students test scores and remember instead how hard they try and what type of person they are.
