Mindfulness-based cognitive group therapy for social anxiety in people living with visible skin conditions This study is now recruiting! Do you have a visible skin condition? Do you find yourself worrying about what other people might think? Do you find yourself avoiding social situations? Are you worried about people making negative comments? Do you feel anxious about going into new situations and speaking to people you don’t know? If you answered yes to these questions this research might help you to find new ways of managing these types of worries and improving your overall wellbeing. What is Mindfulness and how can it help? Learn new ways of managing anxious thoughts and worry Practice strategies to help you to focus on the present moment rather than worry about the past or the future Learn techniques to step back from your thoughts and reduce the impact your thoughts have on your mood Mindfulness can help people to recognise negative thinking and the techniques you will learn will help you to find new ways of managing anxious thoughts. If you think learning these skills would be beneficial the Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy course may be for you.. What does it involve? This course will run for 8 weeks for 2.5 hours each week in Sheffield city centre. Refreshments will be provided and travel expenses can be reimbursed. This study has received NHS ethical approval from Preston North West ethics committee If you would like more information or you are interested in participating in this research please contact: kmontgomery1@sheffield.ac.uk Uses meditation practice to direct the attention 24/11/2018 © The University of Sheffield
