Presentation transcript:

COBRA+ a cyclic process for generating actionable progress-making solutions to wicked problems …establish where you’re heading… Compass …map stakeholder outcome needs… + Outcomes …establish how well solutions match need and deployment capabilities, then iterate as appropriate… And’s But’s Resources …establish ‘yes, but’ barriers… …generate solution clues… …identify available resources…

Ideal COBRA+ Achieve the OUTCOMES with zero cost or harm (‘Self-X’) 1) What is the ultimate Ideal? Ideal Achieve the OUTCOMES with zero cost or harm (‘Self-X’) 2) What is our near term, pragmatic Ideal?

COBRA+ Individual Stakeholders: Moments of Truth:

COBRA+ Individual Stakeholder: WE Moment of Truth: STAKEHOLDER What are the desired outcomes? What are the current actual outcomes? (including negative ones) Are there missing outcomes? Do these answer suggest any first solution clues? STAKEHOLDER tangible intangible Anticipate completing one of these sheets for each stakeholder at each Moment of Truth

COBRA+ Ideally: Look for: - Loops - Collector Points BUT… Leads To? A G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Look for: - Loops - Collector Points

COBRA+ Past Present Future Around the system System Within the system

COBRA+ But… Ideally AND Principles Anticipate completing one of these sheets for each ‘But’ you are looking to challenge

COBRA+ Most Interesting Solution Clues Best Solution Cluster, Combine and Converge Best Solution

COBRA+ Is the solution good enough? Do all the stakeholders perceive a win? Do we possess a critical mass of resources to successfully execute the solution? Do we possess the requisite level of capability to successfully execute the solution? Do we possess the requisite will, stamina and persistence? If the answer to any of these questions is ‘no’, we should consider another iteration of the cycle. This may mean we re-define the original ‘Ideally’ statement. Or it could mean we configure a new Ideally statement based around the ‘No’ answers above. New question: Remember: In the next iteration, not everything will change in the previously completed COBRA templates.
